Streaming video and audio quality testing

It is becoming increasingly important for infotainment systems to connect with mobile devices, the Internet, advanced telematics systems and non-cellular technologies such as Bluetooth® and Wi-Fi. End users expect fast and reliable device connectivity, handsfree calling systems and telematics systems that provide feedback from the field and essential firmware updates over the air.

Wireless communications

A wide range of different standards might co-exist in a car. Telematic units can contain multiple RF systems, such as LTE-A, 3G, WLAN and Bluetooth®. The use of multiple wireless communications standards in parallel in such a confined environment can lead to quality problems, lower data rates or even complete failure. Repeatable real-world test scenarios are required to verify stable performance.

Battery life testing

With the ever-increasing number of connected ECUs, it is necessary to know how much power they consume. Important areas include monitoring infotainment and telematics units to understand their data activity during idle time, monitoring the applications running on an infotainment system and determining how long a battery will work with an eCall/ERA-Glonass module after a crash, for example. Our T&M solutions can emulate, test and analyze such scenarios.

Be compliant

EN 300 328 and EN 301 893 describe a number of relevant mandatory test cases from the radio equipment directive (RED) on wireless devices operating in the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequency bands. Such devices are typically Wi-Fi or Bluetooth® transceivers commonly found in modern vehicle infotainment systems.

EN 301 908-13 and EN 301 511 specify the mandatory testing requirements for devices operating in the LTE UE E-UTRA frequency bands and GSM frequency bands.

Our T&M solutions allow Tier 2 chipset manufacturers, Tier 1 module makers as well as OEMs to test whether their products and components comply with these standards.
