FAQ - Your questions answered

What exactly is microwave imaging?

A cutting-edge inspection tool!

Microwave imaging uses electromagnetic waves to inspect and generate images of objects or materials. By analyzing how these waves reflect, transmit, or get absorbed, detailed images are crafted.

How does microwave imaging compare to traditional methods?

Innovative and non-intrusive!

Unlike some methods like X-rays which use ionizing radiation, microwave imaging is safe due to its non-ionizing nature. It also offers unique insights, especially when materials like metals or liquids are involved.

Is microwave imaging safe for both me and my product?

Absolutely.

Microwave Imaging harnesses non-ionizing radiation, ensuring it's safe. This differs significantly from ionizing radiation techniques, such as X-rays, which can alter DNA structures. Moreover, the transmitted power levels are minimal and have received certification from independent bodies for their safety.

How exactly are these images generated using microwave technology?

Through precision antenna arrays!

Our system benefits from hundreds of small antennas that can be controlled individually. By synchronizing all these antennas, they create thousands of virtual ones, ensuring the clarity and resolution of the images. These results are then swiftly processed on a GPU.

What materials and structures can microwave imaging reveal?

It's all about reflection!

Materials that reflect the signal will be visible. Metals and materials with high water content have a substantial reflection factor. This means our system won't display objects hidden behind metals or within fluids.

Is there any motion blur with moving subjects?

Virtually none!

The R&S®QAR50-K80 captures images in mere milliseconds, making it largely immune to motion blur. Moreover, motion can even enhance image clarity, thanks to the system's ISAR algorithms which combine images from multiple perspectives.

Are there limitations to microwave imaging?

A few.

Microwave imaging can't see through metals or liquids. However, this limitation is a boon in scenarios like detecting product leakages, as the radar rays would simply pass through unaffected otherwise. Objects within carton packages, for instance, are easily detected using this method.

Can images larger than the transceiver's actual size be produced?

Yes, they can!

Thanks to the ISAR technique, objects moved beneath our system (like on a conveyor belt) yield larger and more detailed images due to multiple evaluation positions.

Isn't microwave imaging a costly process?

It is surprisingly affordable!

Our experience with body scanners has enabled bulk production of chips and hardware, making our equipment more cost-effective. In fact, our µw imaging-based solution might even be comparably priced to weight-differentiated systems.

How does millimeter wave imaging inspection benefit food quality testing?

It enhances safety and quality!

Millimeter wave imaging provides a non-invasive and precise method for inspecting food products. This technology ensures the safety, integrity, and compliance of food items with industry standards. By using electromagnetic waves, it effectively evaluates the quality without physically altering the product, making it an invaluable tool in the food industry for maintaining high standards.

Can millimeter wave solutions be customized for specific food quality testing needs?

It is absolutely versatile!

Our millimeter wave solutions are highly adaptable, allowing customization to meet specific requirements in food quality testing. Whether it's detecting foreign objects or assessing moisture content, these solutions provide tailored insights to ensure the best outcomes in food safety and quality.

How does millimeter wave imaging inspection enhance the overall quality assurance process?

By streamlining quality control!

Millimeter wave imaging inspection streamlines the quality assurance process by offering rapid, accurate, and comprehensive assessments. This technology enhances the ability to quickly identify potential issues, reducing waste and improving efficiency in production lines.

What are the advantages of using millimeter waves in food quality testing compared to traditional methods?

It's more advanced and more efficient!

Compared to traditional methods, millimeter waves offer several advantages in food quality testing. They provide faster results, detailed imaging, and the ability to inspect products without damaging them. This leads to more efficient quality control and a safer food supply chain.
