The ATC (Air Traffic Control) System Engineering team at Rohde & Schwarz is dedicated to developing innovative solutions that enhance air traffic control and safety. This multidisciplinary team combines expertise in systems engineering, software development, and data communications to design and implement advanced air traffic control systems. By leveraging cutting-edge technology and industry best practices, the team ensures reliable communication, surveillance, and data processing capabilities that support efficient and safe air traffic operations in the US. As an intern in the ATC (Air Traffic Control) System Engineering team at Rohde & Schwarz, you will play a vital role in supporting the development and enhancement of advanced air traffic management solutions. Your responsibilities may include supporting system design activities, testing and validation as well as documentation

Your tasks

  • Support the R&S Air Traffic Control demo room, which is used to present the R&S ATC portfolio to customers
  • Update and support the R&S lab to reflect the ATC world market release, all existing customer baselines, and maintain a test environment for ATC engineers
  • Test and verify the ATC demo room and R&S lab equipment and coordinate efforts within the team to solve identified issues
  • Update manuals, documentation, and videos for correct operation of the ATC demo room for Engineering and Sales team use
  • Support ATC engineering teams in different engineering activities for ongoing customer projects, to include trade studies, competitor analyses, process evaluations, and technical project management using Jira and Confluence

Your qualifications

  • Rising Jr or Sr year
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Interest in software and hardware
  • Interest in RF technology
  • Basic understanding of data communications (IP networking, voice communications)
  • Curious and entrepreneurial attitude
  • Summer resident of the greater Columbia, MD area. We are unable to provide housing or relocation for summer interns
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident

This is an hourly position, paying $22-$27/hour, minimum of 30 hours per week.
