Recently named by Newsweek as one of the Best American Mid-Sized Workplaces in 2026, Rohde & Schwarz is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our growing Air Traffic Control (ATC) team in Frederick, MD. As an Electrical Engineer supporting Air Traffic Control (ATC) Voice Communication System design, architecture, integration, and deployment programs, you will be responsible for the engineering, implementation, and lifecycle support of mission-critical communications infrastructure used in the management of air traffic operations. This position is a fulltime, onsite role based in our Frederick, MD engineering and production facility. US citizenship is required.

Your tasks

  • Design electrical and communication system hardware for Air Traffic Control (ATC) Voice Communication Systems.
  • Develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, rack layouts, cable schedules, and hardware installation packages.
  • Perform equipment selection, power distribution analysis, grounding, surge protection, and environmental assessments.
  • Support system integration, factory acceptance testing, site acceptance testing, and field deployments.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, cabling, power, and communication interface issues during installation and operations.
  • Ensure designs comply with FAA, customer, industry, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with systems, network, software, and field engineering teams to deliver reliable mission-critical communication solutions.
  • Support engineering documentation, configuration management, and technical reviews throughout the project lifecycle.

Your qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in electrical systems design, integration, or deployment engineering.
  • Experience developing electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, and installation documentation.
  • Knowledge of power distribution, grounding, surge protection, and telecommunications infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with IP networks, voice communication systems, radio communications, or critical communications systems.
  • Experience supporting system integration, testing, troubleshooting, and field deployments.
  • Proficiency with engineering design and documentation tools such as AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, Visio, or similar.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary engineering environment.
  • In order to be considered, candidates must reside in the US and be a U.S. citizen of receiving a US Government security clearance or public trust

The total compensation for this position is $104K-$135K. Total compensation includes base salary, variable pay (when applicable) plus benefits. The range is determined by the position, geographic location and level. Individual pay within the range is determined by several factors including location, education or training, relevant work history, sales incentive structure and job-related skills.
