Start-up characteristic of oscillators


Is it possible to measure the start-up characteristic of an oscillator with my U37xx analyzer


Fast start-up, high stability and high gain are required for crystal oscillators.

It is therefore important to evaluate the start-up characteristic from power-on

to rated output. It is difficult for a frequency sweep type spectrum analyzer

to analyze the characteristics. However, your U37xx with the 53/54 time domain

analysis option enables you to analyze the frequency variation and power with

just one data acquisition.

Simply connect the power source of your oscillator to the External Trigger input

and measure the RF output signal using the 'Freq. vs. Power' and 'Power vs. Time'

mode provided by the 53/54 time domain option.
