Features & benefits

Compliance in-device testing

Evaluation functions according to IEC 62301, EN 50564, or EN 61000-3-2

All tests conducted with our compliance testers adhere strictly to the following standards:

  • IEC62301: Standby power consumption
  • EN50564: Standby power consumption
  • EN61000-3-2: Harmonic currents for EMC, CE approval
A user-friendly step-by-step wizard will assist users throughout the measurement process, automatically configuring the necessary instrument parameters. This approach minimizes potential measurement errors and ensures rapid access to results. No prior familiarity with the aforementioned standards is required. Upon completion of testing, the system generates verification reports, eliminating the necessity for an external PC

Inrush measurement

Graphical view over one waveform period

Utilize a graphical representation to depict occurrences such as fast switch-on operation. This approach simplifies comprehension and facilitates the comparison between the switching on and the steady-state operation of the device. The system enables continuous recording of 8192 samples, accommodating recording durations spanning from 16 milliseconds to 67 seconds. Following a trigger event, akin to executing a single-shot capture on an oscilloscope, voltage and/or current are graphically plotted.

Trend chart function

Graphical display versus time

This graphical mode facilitates the plotting of up to two measured variables against time, similar to the roll mode feature found in oscilloscopes. Primarily employed for observing more extended timeframes, it accommodates data ranging from 40 seconds to 80 minutes on the display. Users can decide the variables for plotting and adjust the timebase, while the vertical trace scaling is managed automatically. During operation, the numerical representation of maximum and minimum values is provided on the screen for enhanced analysis

Waveform function

Oscillographic waveform chart

This function facilitates a graphical representation of voltage, current, and/or power across a single waveform period, akin to the display format on an oscilloscope. The period is automatically determined by the power analyzer R&S®NPA. An automatic hardware trigger initiates each acquisition, and the waveform is continuously refreshed. Alongside waveform visualization, the R&S®NPA furnishes numerical outputs for RMS voltage, RMS current, and power, with softkeys enabling the selection of displayed or concealed traces

Harmonic analysis

Harmonics as bar chart or table view

Harmonic mode enables the computation of Root Mean Square (RMS) values and phase angles for harmonics. The accompanying bar chart elegantly visualizes patterns for up to 50 harmonics of voltage and/or current, while the tabular presentation offers comprehensive insights into magnitude and phase values per harmonic. Additionally, users have the flexibility to selectively display odd or even harmonics. The intuitive interface allows seamless navigation through the data, with cursors or a rotary knob enabling users to focus on individual harmonics, highlighted in a distinctive yellow hue.

Energy consumption meter

Real-time integrator

The integrator function serves a specialized purpose in the context of unstable power measurements. It is designed to compute and present the cumulative power or energy consumption of a DUT across a designated time span during both active and standby states. Users retain the flexibility to select their preferred acquisition mode, choosing between manual, time-based, or event-based options. All models of R&S®NPA deliver results in various formats, including positive, negative, and total watt-hours, with continuous updates in real time.
