  • Verification standards: offset short, mismatch, attenuator, stepped through

Ensuring accurate and reliable VNA measurements results

Individual evaluation of the actual measurement uncertainty

Verification kits help to evauate the actual measurement uncertainty under given test conditions. The uncertainty information in the data sheet is limited by nature, in practice much more parameters will contribute to measurement uncertainty. This the actual test performance can only be evaluated by verifying the actual test setup. The ZNA-K50(P) option provides software support. All characterization data is traceable to the Swiss Metrology Institute METAS. An R&S®ZNA verification requires the following:

  • ZN-Z2xx or ZV-Z2xx calibration kit with accredited calibration option
  • ZN-Z4xx verification kit with accredited calibration option
  • R&S®ZNA SW option ZNA-K50(P)
  • Male/female connectors

Features & benefits

Dedicated types of verification standards

Covering a wide impedance range for high reliability

The R&S®ZVA-Z4xx verification kits include attenuators, mismatch, offset short and a stepped line. In combination with the stepped line standard, impedance limits (very high/low reflection) and a wide swath of the middle impedance range can be checked. As a result, uncertainty is proven in a matching range where most DUTs can be found.

High mechanical reproducibility

Reliability without a line standard

Line standards are typically used for VNA verification. However, the loose inner conductor of an air line is mechanically difficult to handle and may not be centered exactly in the connector reference plane. To ensure reliable results, the R&S®ZV-Z4xx includes a stepped through instead of an air line.

Certified accuracy

Traceability of characterization data

The characterization data (S-parameters) plus the corresponding uncertainty data (provided with an accredited calibration) can be traced to the globally renowned Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology METAS, ensuring the highest possible level of certainty.
