Developing new automotive radar sensors, radar-based Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), or Autonomous Driving (AD) features presents demanding challenges at every step of the development process. Dynamic, flexible, and scalable test concepts and environments are required.

The R&S®AREG800A Automotive Radar Echo Generator, together with the R&S®QAT100 advanced antenna array, is an innovative key enabler for testing automotive radar sensors and ADAS/AD features. When operated together, independent artificial objects can be generated with individual distance, size, radial velocity, and angular direction. This enables, for the first time, the generation of realistic driving scenarios for automotive radar sensors during development and ADAS/AD feature testing.

Combined with the supported conventional mmWave remote frontends in the AREG platform, various RF lab applications, such as sensor validation, can be conducted. Finally, derived from the R&S®AREG800A, the AREG-P configurations are specifically defined for EoL production testing and present a cost efficient solution. Altogether, the platform covers the complete value chain from R&D all the way to series production.
