This document describes WLAN tests which rely on communication (signaling) between R&S CMW and device under test (DUT) and on transmission of packet data over WLAN. On the R&S CMW side the WLAN Signaling application is required, for some tests also the Data Application Unit (DAU). The test principles and the necessary settings are explained and background infor-mation is given. Step-by-step procedures are provided for the main configuration tasks.

Rohde & Schwarz enters source measure unit market with the new R&S NGUWith two new source measure units (SMU), Rohde & Schwarz enters a market previously not addressed by the power products of the test and measurement specialist. The performance of the new R&S NGU201 and R&S NGU401 SMUs enables simultaneous sourcing and measuring of currents and voltages with high precision. The two-quadrant R&S NGU201 addresses wireless device battery tests and automatically switches from source mode to sink mode at a defined positive input voltage. The four-quadrant R&S NGU401 can also switch at negative voltages, supporting source measurements for a vast range of power supply types.

Rohde & Schwarz adds LAN models to waveguide thermal power sensorsFor precise RF power measurements in V, E and W waveguide bands, Rohde & Schwarz is adding new members to its R&S NRP thermal power sensor family. The new R&S NRPxxTWGN models have LAN interface for more flexible connectivity with TCP/IP technologies, including stand-alone PCs, remote access or cloud systems.
This application note addresses the diverse possibilities of interoperability between Rohde & Schwarz power sensors and Rohde & Schwarz signal generators. All current and many legacy Rohde & Schwarz signal generators offer the capability of directly connecting power sensors. This enables power measurements without the need of a base unit or separate PC to display the readings. Furthermore, sensors can be used for special tasks like filling a user correction table or continuously controlling levels at crucial points in the measurement configuration.
