Head of Standards Development
Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC)

Abdul Karim Abdul Razak is the Head of Standards Development Department, Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission. He is responsible for the development of technical standards which is amongst others aimed at promoting network interoperability and safety of network facilities and customer equipment according to the CMA 1998. He participates regularly in various standardization activities at national, regional and international levels specifically under APT and ITU. Apart from that, he is also overseeing the development and implementation of certification programs for communications equipment, amateur radio operator’s certificate, general operator’s certificate, restricted operator’s certificate and cabling providers either undertaken directly by MCMC or through its registered certifying agencies. Among the current initiatives under his purview includes Market Surveillance, Mutual Recognition Arrangement and Check Your Label. He holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from Iowa State University of Science and Technology.

Rohde & Schwarz Asia

Estelle joined Rohde & Schwarz Asia in 2012. She is now a Manager in Rohde & Schwarz Asia in charge of Commercial EMC for the APAC region. An Electrical Engineering graduate from the National University of Singapore, she had in her early days been involved in the set up and installation of systems for test laboratories in the region. She now focuses on Commercial and Telecommunication EMC test requirements and Wireless RF regulatory test requirements and has authored and made presentations throughout the region.

Kian Meng has more than 15 years of experience in the R&D, EMC and RF regulatory testing field. He also manages regulatory approvals with various major manufacturers. At UL in ASEAN, he is leading the team for the EMC and RF regulatory testing services and RF performance testing. Kian Meng is also interested in the international approvals within his area of expertise.

Tun Hussein Onn University of Malaysia (UTHM)

Dr Xavier Ngu received his PhD in EMC from The University of Nottingham, United Kingdom in 2007 and joined Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM), Batu Pahat, Johor as senior lecturer in the Faculty of Electric and Electronic Engineering in 2010. Currently, he is the head of a research laboratory for RF and microwave.

In 2001, Dr Ngu was involved in the setting up of the first government agency EMC test laboratory in Malaysia at KUiTTHO. The test laboratory is now the Center of Excellence in UTHM. His area of expertise includes 3D Electromagnetics (EM) simulations, EMC, T&M, Signal Integrity (SI), electromagnetic design, diagnostic and troubleshooting, characterization of materials from measurements, and EMC in Aerospace and Vehicular Applications.

He is currently the lead EMC consultant in EMC Laboratory, EMCenter, where he offers consultation to various automotive makers, oil and gas companies, transportation projects, and Government EMC projects on top of regular EMC pre-compliance tests from makers in Malaysia and Singapore.

William has been with Rohde & Schwarz after graduating from the National University of Singapore in 2016. As a senior Engineer, he specializes in regulatory testing, specifically those in the 2.4GHz and 5GHz Industrial Security and Medical bands as well as Over-to-Air (OTA) measurements.

Dr Linus Lau obtained his MPhil in Mechanical Engineering and PhD in Microwave Engineering from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST, UK) between 1995 and 2003. He worked in Intel Malaysia, Penang for two years as a Senior Test Module Development Engineer in the area of Test module development for Intel Centrino WIFI chipset. He was then attached to Computer Simulation Technology (CST) from 2005 to 2010 as the main technical consultant for South East Asia region. He has founded his own company, RF STATION Sdn Bhd in 2011 that ventures into CAE/Test and Measurement Services and Solutions. RF STATION is a certified technical partner of Dassault Systemes in Malaysia providing CAE solution in Electro-Magnetic, Structural analysis and CFD domains and representing Atenlab of their millimeter wave antenna measurement solutions for 5G applications.

Wurth Electronics

Richard obtained his MSc in Microelectronics System Design from Liverpool JM University UK. He has been with Wurth Electronics since 2015 and travels around South East Asia sharing and helping customers solve their EMC/EMI problems. Prior to that, he was in fuel cell system design for military UAV (DSO, ST Aero, IAI, Elbit, EADS, Boeing etc). He was also in the R&D field for many years.

Heng graduated with BEng in Electronics Engineering from University of South Australia. He is a specialist in vector network analysis and time domain analysis. With years of experience in T&M and A&D industries, Heng supported various projects in the Asia Pacific region. As a qualified trainer at Rohde & Schwarz, he is actively supporting and conducting trainings for Rohde & Schwarz T&M in the region.
