Test and measurement expert Rohde & Schwarz completes its commercial 5G NR network measurement solution. In combination with the new R&S TSME30DC downconverter, the R&S TSMx6 network scanner analyzes 5G NR signals up to 30 GHz, covering the majority of high frequency 5G NR use cases. Rounding out the solution are an updated version of the R&S ROMES4 drive test software and the R&S SmartAnalytics web-based software suite launched at MWC 2019.

This application note provides and overview of the technology, the details of the standard and summarizes the R&S®TSMx scanner features for LTE-M measurements.

Similar to all cellular standards, the ACD option is quickly set up on the R&S®TSMx network scanners and also automatically detects 5G NR signals within a few seconds.

Rohde & Schwarz has installed a 5G campus network to leverage the possibilities and advantages of Industry 4.0 at its plant in Teisnach, Germany. The industrial-grade private 5G network infrastructure is based on Nokia Digital Automation Cloud (DAC). Both companies will participate in the testing of the 5G campus network using Rohde & Schwarz network testing equipment to optimize its operation and performance. Gaining experience and valuable insights into private 5G network operation in its own plant, and how to optimize deployment, was a major driver behind this project for Rohde & Schwarz.
