R&S®ARGUS;

ITU-compliant spectrum monitoring and more

R&S®ARGUS combines powerful spectrum monitoring tools with easy and efficient operation. Tried-and-tested features such as reasonable default values and the unique guided measurement modes make R&S®ARGUS ideal for less experienced operators. Sophisticated intermodulation analysis and vestigial sideband emission investigation will appeal to experts. The modular structure enables customer-specific system configurations – from standalone devices to nationwide monitoring networks. Thanks to a wide range of specialized equipment, numerous open interfaces and unrivaled monitoring capabilities, R&S®ARGUS is well-suited for applications far beyond ITU-compliant monitoring.

Features & benefits

The right instrument for every task

Spectrum monitoring involves a number of highly diverse tasks. A wide range of specialized instruments is required to perform these measurements in line with ITU recommendations. Among these instruments are receivers and direction finders, spectrum analyzers and TV test receivers, special decoders to analyze, classify, and identify signals, as well as system devices such as antenna switches, controllers, and filters. These dedicated devices are fully integrated via standardized user interfaces.

Structured measurement sequences

Spectrum monitoring involves many tasks such as searching for interference sources, detecting and identifying new, unknown transmitters, localizing emitters and long-term monitoring of emissions to verify compliance with applicable licenses. Each of these activities has its own characteristic workflow. The individual workflows are implemented as dedicated modules to keep operation as simple as possible, make work efficient and error-free, and provide maximum guidance to the operator.

Open interfaces

R&S®ARGUS has several open interfaces so it can be flexibly and efficiently integrated into a customer’s existing infrastructure. The data exchange with spectrum management is the most important factor. The software supports all major suppliers of spectrum management solutions and numerous customer specific tools. Further open interfaces allow control of R&S®ARGUS from third party applications or the controlled access to the monitoring database.

From analysis to reports

At the end of the workflow, a report is created.
Concise, informative reports are generated in four steps:

  • Filtering of raw data
  • Analysis and evaluation in line with ITU guidelines and recommendations
  • Data fusion, combination of different information from multiple sources to obtain a complete and correct result
  • Compilation of reports with dedicated templates
