Get more inside into individual transmitter-interface jitter and noise components to characterize your jitter and noise budget or identify the root causes of a failure. R&S RTO6/RTP-K133 and K134 options deliver the decomposition of common jitter and noise components such as random jitter (RJ/RN), deterministic jitter and noise components such as data-dependent jitter (DDJ/DDN) or periodic jitter (PJ/PN) components.

Features & benefits

Jitter and noise decomposition

Accurate results

The R&S jitter and noise decomposition algorithm starts with calculating the step responses that fully characterize the deterministic behavior of the transmission system. Users benefit from accurate measurement results even with relative short signal sequences.

Gain more design insight

R&S jitter and noise decomposition options include new functions for more insight into signal characteristics and the root cause of failures:

  • Synthetic eye diagrams can be reconstructed to include periodic and data-dependent components.
  • It calculates and displays BER bathtub curves for selected jitter and noise components.
  • It calculates and displays system characteristic step responses. As a matter of course, the individual jitter and noise components can be displayed as histogram, track or in spectrum view.
  • It calculates the jitter and noise components for selectable transitions in PAM signals

Automatic setup

Get to your results fast

Start your decomposition calculation with the "Quick start analysis" function. It automatically configures a setup and displays a default set of measurements and plots. To optimize analysis for dedicated interface standards, select the technology and standard version upfront in the signal configurator.
