Rohde & Schwarz and SRC partner for new product developments for Electronic Warfare

Rohde & Schwarz and SRC have created a partnership for the development of the Electronic Warfare environmental signal generation. The two companies work together to develop a new EW test solution, using both companies’ technologies to generate high density RF environments, and more.

Rohde & Schwarz and SRC, Inc. created an aligned partnership for the development of Electronic Warfare (EW) environmental signal generation. SRC Inc. is an independent, not-for-profit research and development company, which serves the defense, environment and intelligence industries, and is nationally recognized in the design, development and manufacture of advanced radar, electronic warfare and communications systems for land, sea, air and space applications. Using the R&S SMW200A vector signal generator , SRC created the RSGEN. SRC developed digital backend technology and software to create a high throughput, and high port count EW environmental generation solution. The core functionality of the RSGEN is a scaled solution that extends the product capability of Rohde & Schwarz signal generation by utilizing SRC’s leadership in the EW threat library community.

The RSGEN, will help customers elevate testing, with commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) RF, to a government standard EW threat database simulator. Rohde & Schwarz Manager, Business Development of Aerospace and Defense, Mike Gibson quotes, “We’re happy to work with SRC to extend our COTS product portfolio that serve our government customers. The R&S SMW200A vector signal generator has been very popular with these customers and the RSGEN extends the capabilities for EM environmental simulation- this upgrade will be directly injected and calibrated to test receivers, jammers, as well as radars in an Electromagnetic (EM) environment.”

The solution provided by Rohde & Schwarz and SRC will provide a cost saving and capability extending solution to end users, who are building an environmental RF Generator with COTS solutions. RSGEN capabilities will extend the current R&S SMW200A to enable users to go from EW threat library, or database, directly to RF, allowing users to quickly build environmental generators to fit their needs. From small scale-single port on a benchtop, to now dozens of ports. The partnership between Rohde & Schwarz and SRC will provide users with customizable, scalable, and highly functional EW environmental generation.
