High-speed accuracy

Thanks to their high accuracy and fast load recovery time, the R&S®NGM200 power supplies are perfect for challenging applications. Their two-quadrant architecture allows them to function both as a source and a sink to simulate batteries and loads. Their short recovery times enable them to handle fast load changes that occur, for example, when mobile communications devices switch from sleep mode to transmit mode. High-speed data acquisition and convenient battery simulation widen the range of applications.

Battery simulation

with R&S®​NGM-K106

Real batteries show different characteristics depending on the type of battery and its charging condition. Capacity, open circuit voltage (Voc) and equivalent series resistance (ESR) are important battery characteristics that depend on its state of charge (SoC). The optional R&S®NGM-K106 functionality allows users to simulate the behavior of batteries under different charging conditions, e.g. when powering a DUT.

High-speed acquisition

FastLog functionality

The R&S®NGM200 power supplies offer the high-speed FastLog functionality to capture voltage and current measurement results. This data can be stored on an external USB storage device or can be transferred to an external PC via USB or LAN. With an acquisition rate of up to 500 ksample/s, voltage and current results are available every 2 μs. Instead of the readback voltage, also the voltage measured by the optional digital voltmeter functionality (R&S®NGM-K104) can be logged with 500 ksample/s. Using the two-channel R&S®NGM202, the data acquisition can run on both channels in parallel. 

With this high-speed acquisition, even spikes in the microsecond range that cannot be detected with slower instruments, can be detected in min./max. values.

FastLog functionality

The FastLog functionality follows voltage/current variations with a resolution of up to 2 µs. It detects spikes that would be overseen by slower instruments.

Digital voltmeter functionality

with R&S®NGM-K104

Like other power supplies, the R&S®NGM200 instruments measure the voltage supplied to the DUT. In addition, the R&S®NGM-K104 option activates a port that allows the internal digital voltmeter to be connected to any other point in the customer’s circuitry. In many cases, an additional digital multimeter is not necessary.

Fast load regulation

handles fast load changes

Consumer electronics such as mobile phones and IoT devices require very little power in sleep mode. However, the current increases abruptly as soon as the device switches to transmit mode. A power supply used to power such DUTs must be capable of handling load changes from a few µA to the ampere range without creating voltage drops or overshoots.

Exceptionally fast load recovery time

Power supplies usually respond to abrupt load changes with overshoot and slow recovery times. Thanks to specially optimized control circuits, the R&S®NGM200 power supplies achieve recovery times of < 30 µs.

Minimum residual ripple and low noise

Advanced electronic circuitry is often very complex and sensitive to interference on the supply lines. In order to supply interference-free voltage to such sensitive DUTs, the power supplies must provide extremely stable output voltages and currents. All types of ripple and noise need to be avoided. The R&S®NGM200 power supplies have linear regulation and are ideal for sensitive DUTs.

Two quadrant operation

The two-quadrant architecture of the power supplies allows them to function both as a source and a sink and simulate batteries or loads. The power supply automatically switches from source mode to sink mode. As soon as the externally applied voltage exceeds the set nominal voltage, current flows into the power supply. This is indicated by a negative current reading.

1. The prize draw “10 years Rohde & Schwarz oscilloscopes” (herein referred to as “Draw”) is organized by Rohde & Schwarz GmbH & Co. KG, Mühldorfstraße 15, 81671 Munich, Germany, Tel. +49 89 41 29 0 (herein referred to as “R&S).

2. Draw Period. This Draw begins January 01, 2020 to December 31, 2020. R&S reserves the right to change the end date of the Draw.

3. Participation. No purchase necessary. This Draw is limited to legal residents of the United States and Canada, age of 18 years or older, at the time of the submission. Employees of R&S, its affiliates, subsidiaries, distribution partners and agents, and immediate family members of each, are not eligible. Government agencies and institutions (including public universities), and their employees are not eligible to participate or receive prizes. This Draw is void where prohibited by law.

4. Entrance. Fill out the form above during the Draw Period and follow the instructions to complete and submit the form. Limit one entry per person. 6. Prize Description. There will be one (1) winner for each of one (1) of ten (10) R&S®RTB2000 Digital Oscilloscopes. R&S reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value in the event that the stated prize becomes unavailable. No cash equivalent or exchange is permitted. All federal, state and/or local income and other taxes or duties, if any, are the winner's sole responsibility.

7. Odds of Winning. The odds of winning this Draw depend on the number of eligible entries received.

8. Winners Selection. The draw takes place at Rohde & Schwarz headquarters, Muehldorstrasse 15, 81671 Munich.

9. Winner Notification. The winners of each of the prizes will be informed by e-mail within five (5) working days. The participant that is selected as winner of the prize shall inform Rohde & Schwarz about the acceptance of the price. In case of the denial of the acceptance, or no answer within two (2) weeks, a new winner will be drawn. If no winner can be determined within four (4) weeks, the draw ends and the prize forfeit.

10. Limitation of Liability. By entering, entrants release and hold harmless Rohde & Schwarz and its respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, officers, employees and agents from any and all liability or any injuries, loss, or damage of any kind arising from or in connection with this Draw or with any prize awarded. No cash equivalent or exchange of prizes is allowed. Prizes are non-transferable. 12. General Conditions.

a. Entrants agree to abide by the terms of these official rules and by the decisions of R&S, which are final and binding on all matters pertaining to this Draw. Any Participant who does not comply with these Terms & Conditions may be disqualified by R&S from this Draw. In such cases, prizes can also be withdrawn retrospectively. In case a prize is withdrawn retrospectively due to the non-compliance with these Terms & Conditions, it shall be returned by the respective participant at his cost to R&S’ address mentioned under Nr.1 and a new winner will be drawn. The draw and any contractual relationship arising therefrom between R&S and the respective participant shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Germany, without any recourse to the conflict of laws. The courts of Munich, Germany, shall have exclusive jurisdiction in case of any disputes arising directly or indirectly from the participation in this Draw.

b. Income Taxes: A U.S. winner will need to supply to R&S their Social Security Number for a 1099 for the total value (Current estimate is approximately $1,540) to be issued. Any winner is solely responsible for any and all tax liability/responsibility for this. R&S is not responsible for any taxes or tax implications to or of the winner associated with Draw winnings.

13. Winner Information. For the names of the winners, send a self-addressed stamped envelope to Rohde & Schwarz USA, Inc. at 6821 Benjamin Franklin Drive, Columbia, MD 21046.
