Question
When I switch off my HMP power supply using the main switch (called "1 = Power Key" in the manual) on the front panel, I get higher output voltage for a short time.
What is the recommended way to avoid such overvoltage?

The voltage regulation of the R&S®HMP works fine as long as there is enough power available for the regulation. When the main switch is used to power it off, it comes to some kind of undefined state after a while right before completely powering off. This can cause unwanted voltage peaks.
It is not recommended to switch off the instrument with this key while connected to any DUT or other loads. We recommend to deactivate the corresponding outputs of the R&S®HMP before disconnecting the power supply from the mains. This can be done e.g. by using the "Output" Key.
