FAQs from Rohde & Schwarz

How to use SELF ALIGNMENT.

Question

I had a look at the SETUP => ALIGNMENT menu and found a softkey labeled

SELF ALIGNMENT. What can I do with it?

Answer

SELF ALIGNMENT is a tool that creates and uses internally stored

correction data. It helps to maintain the measurement accuracy of the

FSL.

A self-alignment should be performed at regular intervals to eliminate drift

due to aging or temperature. For optimum results, we recommend that you run

a self-alignment only after an appropriate warm-up time.

During self-alignment, the program switches the input to an internal, very stable fixed frequency signal source

to derive alignment or correction data.

This procedure compensates any drift and optimizes the FSL.

The self-alignment feature is not a replacement for a certified calibration

performed by a Rohde & Schwarz service center.
