Associate Configuration Management Specialist - Frederick, MD

Your tasks

• Support the Configuration Manager in maintaining configuration management plans, procedures, and program records.
• Assist with configuration identification, change control, status accounting, and documentation activities.
• Coordinate and track Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), Change Notices, and Configuration Control Board (CCB) actions.
• Maintain configuration databases, document repositories, and program records to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Assist with establishing and maintaining hardware, software, network, and cybersecurity baselines for FAA voice communications systems.
• Collect, organize, and distribute configuration status reports, metrics, and action item updates.
• Support preparation for Functional Configuration Audits (FCA), Physical Configuration Audits (PCA), and customer reviews.
• Maintain technical documentation, software release packages, cybersecurity artifacts, technical data packages, and subcontractor deliverables.
• Assist engineering, field service, cybersecurity, and program management teams with configuration-related issues and data requests.
• Verify documentation changes are properly reviewed, approved, and incorporated into applicable baselines.
• Support technology refresh and obsolescence management activities by maintaining equipment inventories and lifecycle records.
• Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance configuration management efficiency and compliance.

Your qualifications

• Associate's or bachelor’s degree in engineering, Information Technology, Business, Aviation, Computer Science, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.
• 2+ years of experience in configuration management, data management, technical documentation, quality assurance, engineering support, or related disciplines.
• Experience supporting FAA, DoD, DHS/TSA, or other government programs is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with voice communications systems, telecommunications, networking, or other critical infrastructure systems a plus.
• Experience with document management systems, issue tracking tools, or CM databases.
• Exposure to CCB processes, engineering change control, or technical documentation environments.
• Knowledge of industry standards such as ISO 9001, CMMI, or EIA-649 is preferred-
• Experience with inventory management or obsolescence tracking.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a structured environment.
• Basic understanding of change control, document management, and configuration management concepts.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams. -
• Willingness to learn configuration management processes, tools, and industry standards.
