This application note describes how to remotely control the R&S SGMA RF sources SGT100A and SGS100A with a special focus on their high-speed remote control capabilities via LAN based FAST Socket or FAST PCI Express (PCIe) connections which allow round trip setting times of only 100μs.It therefore provides a brief introduction into the general remote control capabilities, explains the interaction of the different SW protocol layers and drivers, and in detail describes how to establish a high-speed remote control connection. Finally, a comparison of the measured setting time performance of the different remote control approaches is provided.

The SGMA products from Rohde & Schwarz are optimized for use in production and automated applications. Their key characteristics are high speed and a compact design. The instruments are also an ideal enhancement for the R&S®SMW200A in MIMO applications. They can interface to the high-end vector signal generator and serve as additional RF outputs. This application note explains how to connect and interface with the SGMA instruments and gives some recommendations and hints about their use. It helps the user to get started and to understand how the instruments interact.

Rohde & Schwarz signal generators present a compact easy-to-use solution for generating phase coherent signals. Different generator models can be coupled to optimally fit user requirements in terms of number of phase coherent channels and RF frequency range.This application note explains how to generate phase coherent signals, details what to consider and how to best calibrate the relative phases and timing between the individual channels. This document also presents various measurements of the phase stability over time for different RF frequencies.

This application note describes how to generate and analyze wideband digitally modulated signals in the mm-wave range.Rohde & Schwarz measuring equipment and some 3rd party off-the-shelf accessories are used for both signal generation and analysis. Measurement results are shown which demonstrate the typical performance for millimeter wave signals in terms of error vector magnitude (EVM) and adjacent channel power (ACLR).Two test setups and their measurement results on a commercial V-band transceiver module are presented.

The Rohde & Schwarz Bluetooth RF test solution with the R&S®CMW and R&S®CMWrun is closely aligned to the Bluetooth RF Test Suite. Most of the tests can be performed with the equipment under test connected to a single CMW which is remotely controlled via R&S®CMWrun running on an external computer. Some of the tests require an additional signal generator. This document describes common setups for these tests and the required configurations.

3GPP TS36.141 defines conformance tests for EUTRA base stations (eNodeB). Release 14 added several tests, especially for enhanced License Assisted Access (eLAA).This application note describes how all required receiver (Rx) tests (TS36.141 Chapter 7) can be performed quickly and easily by using vector signal generators from Rohde & Schwarz. A few tests additionally require spectrum analyzers from Rohde & Schwarz.Examples illustrate the manual operation.
