Wireless technology, over 20 years old, continues to innovate, meeting new market demands and enabling new applications. Recent Bluetooth® updates include enhanced audio streaming and hearing aid support, and soon, high-accuracy distance measurement (HADM). These innovations aim for top-notch customer experience, supported by the Bluetooth® SIG's qualification scheme for interoperability and performance. The evolution from around 10 RFPHY test cases in Bluetooth® 4.2 to over 70 in 5.1, and from direct test mode (DTM) to a universal test protocol (UTP) for over-the-air control, highlights the advancements.

This presentation will provide an overview of the latest Bluetooth® innovations and their impact on future testing requirements, extending beyond physical layer tests to include application layer testing for quality assurance in audio streaming and low-latency communication.
