2. Collection, use and processing of data
2.1 Notes on log files when visiting websites
When you visit a Rohde & Schwarz website, the default is that the information transmitted by your Internet provider (e.g. the domains from which you are accessing the Rohde & Schwarz websites, your IP address, the operating system, date and time, browser type, language and configurations, hyperlinks followed within Rohde & Schwarz websites and your activities on these websites) is collected automatically to enable technical operation of the websites. This information is recorded in the form of log files.
2.2 Exclusive use of the publicly accessible area
You can visit the publicly accessible Rohde & Schwarz websites without revealing any personal data. The information listed in 2.1 is analyzed in anonymous form for statistical purposes and cannot be used by Rohde & Schwarz to identify you as an individual. The IP address and other characteristics that we could use to identify you are removed before analysis. This anonymous information is only analyzed at an aggregate level to help Rohde & Schwarz understand trends and patterns in order to improve its website.
2.3 Use of websites with registration functionality
2.3.1 Use of Extranet (restricted access areas)
In order to register in Extranet (GLORIS, eCommerce, Knowledge +, Jam for Externals, Technology Academy etc.) you have to provide personal data such as your title, first and last name, address, email address, phone number, fax number and company name. We need this data to provide relevant service and support applications with the necessary contact information and especially to determine whether or not someone is authorized to access certain restricted-access areas of our website (user authentication).
2.3.2 Use of web stores
You can visit Rohde & Schwarz web stores without personal data being entered or saved.
However, if you wish to set up a customer account, request a quotation or place an order, then you will need to register, specifying personal data such as your title, first name, last name, company name, company address, company phone number and your business email address. When placing an order, you may also have to provide a VAT identification number. Rohde & Schwarz does not collect payment data. Depending on the method of payment you select, this data might be collected by the payment service provider.
You will always be directed to the web store of Rohde & Schwarz and affiliated companies responsible for sales in your region. Depending on the order placed, your personal data and order details may have to be disclosed to Rohde & Schwarz GmbH & Co. KG, Mühldorfstraße 15, 81671 Munich, Germany so the order can be processed.
2.3.3 Using the application portal in the careers section of the webpage (job.rohde-schwarz.com)
If you would like to create a candidate profile in the application portal or via a Rohde & Schwarz landing page, you will need to provide certain personal data.
Who is responsible for applicant data?
The careers webpage and the Rohde & Schwarz application portal with the integrated application wizard are operated by Rohde & Schwarz GmbH & Co. KG (referred to below as Rohde & Schwarz) for its own purposes, but also for purposes of the companies affiliated with Rohde & Schwarz GmbH & Co. KG.
What personal data related to you does Rohde & Schwarz process and for what purpose?
Rohde & Schwarz processes your personal data in accordance with the provisions of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG) and all other applicable laws.
Rohde & Schwarz processes and stores your personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the respective processing purpose. Where the same personal data is processed for multiple purposes, Rohde & Schwarz will retain the data until the last of these purposes is completed.
With whom will Rohde & Schwarz share your data and how is it protected?
If you send us an unsolicited or a job-specific application or if you register in our system for an event or a talent community, your data stored in our applicant management system may be accessed by employees involved in the recruitment process.
If you apply for a job posting at an affiliated company of the Rohde & Schwarz group of companies, your data will be transferred to the affiliated company.
In your applicant account you can indicate whether you want your profile – or your application – to be considered for other positions within the Rohde & Schwarz group.

When you apply online, you can also transfer your profile from a social network (LinkedIn) instead of entering your personal data or uploading a CV manually. You can check all of the prepopulated data and make manual changes before you complete your application. You decide which data is submitted to us when you submit your application.
How long will your data be stored?
Applicant data will be retained for a period of six months following the end of the recruitment process. Different retention periods apply in the countries listed below based on local regulations:

In accordance with Article 15 GDPR, you have the right to access your current application processes and your candidate profile within our application portal at any time. For this purpose you will need to log in to your candidate profile.

How can you view, edit and withdraw your applicant data and candidate profile data?
You can edit or withdraw your current applications by accessing your profile in our application portal. You can also update your personal data, manage the visibility settings for your profile and your newsletter subscription preferences. For this purpose you will need to log in to your candidate profile.
Alternatively, you can assert your right to rectification and completion of your personal data by submitting a request to us by email: dataprotection@rohde-schwarz.com.
How can you delete your applicant data or your candidate profile?
You can independently delete your profile within our application portal. If you are a member of the Rohde & Schwarz talent community, deleting your profile will also result in your removal from our talent pool and removal from newsletter distribution lists. Profile deletion takes effect immediately. Please note that we will anonymize your applicant data once the retention periods stated above have expired.
Alternatively, you can assert your right to erasure by submitting a request to us by email: career@rohde-schwarz.com.
Within what timeframe are requests relating to data subject rights processed and fulfilled?
Incoming requests relating to data subject rights are reviewed promptly and answered within 30 days of receipt. If the processing of the request cannot be completed within that period, the data subject will be informed of the delay within the 30-day period. The processing will then be completed within the applicable statutory extension period.

If you wish to apply for a job at Rohde & Schwarz through our webpages, you will need to provide certain personal data. Before the submission of a specific application, this data is used for the technical administration of the webpages, but only to the extent that is absolutely necessary.

We will erase your personal data from our active databases on request. We may, however, keep certain data if we are legally permitted or required to do so.

2.4 Use and processing
Your personal data will be used solely for the purposes of business relationships with you or for other purposes mentioned on the Rohde & Schwarz websites or for any other stated purpose (e.g. consulting services, information about products and services, etc.). Pursuant to section 3 below, service providers engaged by Rohde & Schwarz only receive the information that is absolutely necessary for them to provide the service. If your consent is required to use the data for purposes other than those specified above, such use will only be made if you have given your consent.
Rohde & Schwarz has taken appropriate technical and organizational measures, such as the use of encryption when transmitting data, to keep your data secure, up-to-date, complete and protected from access by unauthorized third parties.
