When I first try to run telnet, Windows 7 informs me that telnet is not recognized as a command:

Answer
By default, Telnet Client is not enabled in Windows 7. To enable it, you have to add the Telnet Client Windows Feature.
To do so:
Start the Control Panel and go to "Programs", "Turn Windows features on or off":
Enable "Telnet Client":
This may take a while:
Now you are able to use Telnet Client e.g. to remote control our measurement equipment:
