Midrange vector signal generator with mmWave testing capabilities

The R&S®SMM100A vector signal generator provides remarkably good RF characteristics across the entire frequency range from 100 kHz to 44 GHz. The instrument covers the bands below 6 GHz used by existing wireless
standards as well as the newly defined bands for 5G NR FR1 and Wi-Fi 6E up to 7.125 GHz and the 5G NR FR2 bands up to 44 GHz.

The internal baseband generator in the R&S®SMM100A supports a maximum RF modulation bandwidth of 1 GHz.
Digitally modulated broadband signals can thus be generated as required by the prevalent wireless standards. The R&S®SMM100A is well prepared for future bandwidth requirements.

Features & benefits

Excellent SSB phase noise and EVM performance

For the R&S®SMM100A vector signal generator, SSB phase noise of < –129 dBc is specified at an RF frequency of 1 GHz with a 20 kHz offset. The typical value of –134 dBc is even 5 dB lower.

Beside its excellent RF performance, it also exhibits outstanding modulation characteristics at higher frequencies. For example, the R&S®SMM100A delivers impressive EVM performance of < –42 dB (0.8 %) at an RF frequency of 28 GHz for a 100 MHz 5G NR signal in accordance with 3GPP test model 3.1.

Extremely flat frequency response

The frequency response of a signal within the modulation bandwidth also has a major influence on the achievable EVM performance. It is thus essential to minimize this parameter in magnitude and phase across the entire RF frequency range of the generator. 

Intelligent compensation is provided for internal influences of the R&S®SMM100A on the frequency response. The R&S®SMM100A thus attains a measured magnitude frequency response of < 0.4 dB over the entire RF modulation
bandwidth of 1 GHz.

Discover scalability

In the basic configuration, the R&S®SMM100A supports a maximum RF modulation bandwidth of 120 MHz. Depending on the requirements, this can be extended up to 1 GHz by installing a license key. With similar flexibility, the ARB memory can be extended from 64 Msample up to a maximum of 2 Gsample. 

Additionally the R&S®SMM100A is available with various frequency options up to a maximum frequency of 44 GHz. This allows users to precisely configure the R&S®SMM100A to meet their actual requirements.

Mobile communications standards

The R&S®SMM100A is well suited for generation of signals in compliance with the most important wireless communications standards and is the perfect signal generator for 5G NR base station conformance testing.

When equipped with the R&S®SMM-B1044 frequency option, the instrument covers 5G NR frequency ranges FR1 up to 7.125 GHz and FR2 up to 44 GHz. Together with the bandwidth extension to 1 GHz, the instrument can handle the increased requirements for signal bandwidth in 5G applications.

The 5G NR test case wizard allows the R&S®SMM100A to be conveniently and cleverly configured for BTS tests in line with 3GPP TS 38.141.

Ready for the next Wi-Fi generations

WLAN is also following the trend toward higher frequencies and larger bandwidths. For Wi-Fi 6E, the frequency range between 5.8 GHz and 7.125 GHz will be used. For future WLAN standards such as IEEE 802.11be, a signal bandwidth of 320 MHz has already been specified.

With the R&S®SMM-B1007 frequency option up to 7.5 GHz and the R&S®SMM-K524 bandwidth extension to 500 MHz, the R&S®SMM100A is the ideal signal  generator for WLAN testing of components, modules and devices.

High rate pulse (HRP) ultrawideband (UWB)

The R&S®SMM100A is ideally suited for HRP UWB receiver testing. The instrument covers the frequency range up to 10.6 GHz and with the RF modulation badwidth of 500 MHz, signals can be generated on the most important channels.

The R&S®SMM-K149 HRP UWB baseband option supports signal generation for the three specified modes: HRP UWB from IEEE 802.15.4a-2015 as well as the BPRF mode and the HPRF mode for enhanced ranging devices (ERDEF) from IEEE 802.15.4z.

Termes & Conditions du tirage au sort relatif aux 10 ans des oscilloscopes Rohde & Schwarz

1. Le tirage au sort “10 years Rohde & Schwarz oscilloscopes” est organisé par Rohde & Schwarz GmbH & Co. KG, Mühldorfstraße 15, 81671 Munich, Allemagne, Tel. +49 89 41 29 0 (référencé ici par “R&S").

2. Tous les participants peuvent s'inscrire au tirage au sort du 01 janvier 2020 au 31 décembre 2020 avec leur nom, le nom de leur entreprise et leur courriel professionnel.

3. La participation est gratuite et ne dépend pas de l'achat de biens ou de services.

4. Le tirage au sort est uniquement ouvert aux entités juridiques et seules les personnes morales peuvent gagner les prix. Une personne physique n'est pas autorisée à participer en son nom propre et pour son propre compte, mais en tant que représentant d'une entité juridique en remplissant le formulaire de participation au nom et pour le compte de l'entité juridique.

5. Les prix à gagner sont 1 des 10 R&S®RTB2000 au cours de la période allant du 1 janvier 2020 au 31 décembre 2020 :

6. Le tirage au sort aura lieu au siège social de Rohde & Schwarz, Muehldorstrasse 15, 81671 Munich. Les gagnants des prix seront informés par courriel sous 5 jours ouvrés.

7. Le représentant autorisé de l'entité juridique devra informer Rohde & Schwarz qu'il accepte le prix. En cas de refus d'acceptation, ou sans aucune réponse dans les deux semaines, un nouveau gagnant sera tiré au sort. Si aucun gagnant ne se manifeste sous quatre semaines, le tirage au sort prend fin et le prix est perdu.

8. Les employés R&S et les membres de leurs familles, ainsi que toute personne participant au processus du tirage au sort et les membres de leurs familles sont exclus du formulaire de participation.

9. Aucun équivalent en argent ou échange de prix n'est autorisé. Les prix ne sont pas transférables. Tous les impôts, les prélèvements, les droits, les taxes et toutes autres charges perçus dans le pays du participant sont à la charge du participant.

10. Les données personnelles seront traitées uniquement dans le cadre de ce tirage au sort et supprimées quatre semaines après celui-ci, sauf indication contraire.

11. Tout participant qui ne respecte pas ces Termes & Conditions peut être disqualifié par Rohde & Schwarz de ce concours. Dans un tel cas, les prix peuvent également être retirés de manière rétroactive. Dans le cas où un prix est retiré de manière rétroactive à cause du non-respect de ces conditions, il devra être retourné par le participant en question à ses frais à l'adresse Rohde & Schwarz mentionnée au point n°1 et un nouveau gagnant sera tiré au sort.
