In the evolving 5G landscape, channel-state information (CSI) is essential for optimizing network performance and user capacity. CSI enables efficient channel-dependent scheduling and adaptive modulation, ensuring robust high-speed communications between base station and mobile device. AI/ML-driven CSI enhancements promise even greater efficiency, reduced overhead, and improved user experience in 5G-Advanced and future 6G networks. However, implementation across vendors will be challenging. Rohde & Schwarz and Qualcomm Technologies have achieved an industry milestone by demonstrating cross-vendor interoperability of ML-based CSI feedback enhancements, to be showcased at MWC 2025 in Barcelona.

Rohde & Schwarz has collaborated with Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI) to create a wide range of tests for Gigabit Multimedia Serial Link (GMSL) devices. The GMSL technology from ADI provides a cost-efficient, scalable, and simple SerDes solution designed to improve performance for high-speed video links, primarily used in In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) and Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) in vehicles. Rohde & Schwarz and Fraport evaluate the world’s first walk-through scanner for passengers

Fraport began testing the world’s first walk-through security scanner for passengers at Frankfurt Airport. The R&S QPS Walk2000 from Rohde & Schwarz is designed to speed up security checks. The first of these scanners is currently in use in Concourse A of Terminal 1. Passengers simply walk through the scanner at a normal pace without stopping. The test and evaluation phase is set to last up to six months and will provide Fraport and Rohde & Schwarz with important information to help optimize the system.

Rohde & Schwarz presents first automated solution to speed up PCIe 5.0 and 6.0 cable and connector compliance testing

For precise and time-saving compliance testing of the latest generation PCIe 5.0 and 6.0 cables and connectors in line with PCI-SIG specifications, Rohde & Schwarz is developing a new R&S ZNrun vector network analyzer automation suite option. For a fully automated verification of a PCIe x8 cable, for instance, the software controls a setup with R&S ZNB vector network analyzer plus scalable R&S OSP switch matrix configuration, creating a multiport VNA solution with 64 test ports. The solution reduces testing times for PCIe x8 cables to just a few minutes for complete test runs with all Thru and all crosstalk combinations plus corresponding metric calculations for Pass/Fail evaluations. By comparison, manual testing takes several hours and involves major risk of connection errors by test engineers.

Rohde & Schwarz further strengthens its oscilloscope portfolio by introducing the industry’s first ASIC-based zone triggering. With this new approach, the MXO series can offer the world’s fastest zone trigger update rate of up to 600 000 waveforms per second and less than 1.45 us blind time between trigger events. It is up to 10 000 faster than competitive zone triggering offerings. Thanks to the new ASIC-based zone triggering, MXO oscilloscopes can precisely isolate events where traditional triggering does not provide the needed flexibility.
