HMP series network connection via NI VISA

How to setup the Hameg HMP2000 and 4000 Series for TCP/IP RAW socket connection using NI VISA

Resolution

Remark: My NIMax runs on a german platform, so all the english terms are just translated and may differ from the real words used in the english version of N IMax

How to proceed:
Open NI Max

Within NI Max click on Devices and Interfaces / Network Dervices.

Then add a new Network Device / VISA TCP/IP Ressource

The following window appears, usage as shown in the screenshot:

Now is the right time to enter the IP adress oft the device, Port number as shown in the screenshot.

After finishing this setup the Device can be seen in NI Max:

Please double click on the device and then open a visa test panel to check the connection:

A new window appears. Click on „Input/Outpout“ and then take care for *IDN…“ to be chosen. After that run a query.

If you get an answer, everything is fine. The error on the right side is due to the „Bytes to read“ settings. The panel awaits 1024 Bytes to receive - this is much more, than we get in our case here. This little disfigurement can be cut off by Enabling the termination character in the Configuration / I/O Settings section.

The necessary VISA Ressource String is to be found in the VISA Device Name. You can work with copy and paste at the right side of this screen :
