R&S ELEKTRA, ESH3-Z2 Pulse Limiter's Transducer Factor Entry

Description

I am using R&S ELEKTRA with EMI Receiver for conducted measurements with a LISN. During installation and first measurement, we had the "IFOVLD" error, what does mean results are invalid. If the level gets even higher, Receiver could be damaged at some point. To get rid of the problem, we would like to add pulse limiter ESH3-Z2 to the system. Please guide how to add transducer factor ESH3-Z2 pulse limiter to R&S ELEKTRA.

Resolution

This is the guide how to apply ESH3-Z2 to R&S ELEKTRA

From ‘Tabels’ => ‘Attenuation’ click on ‘Plus’ to create a new ‘Attenuation Table'. You will get an empty table you have to fill out. Below you find an example with typical data. If you have calibrated data instead of typical data, please use these values. Click on ‘Save as’ icon as soon as you are finished.

The Attenuation Table you have created have to be added to a so called 'Signal Path'. A Signal Path describes the RF signal connection between two devices, e.g. EMI Receiver and LISN. It contains information on the cable attenuation and could also contain information about insertion loss of connectors or switches between these devices. In the screenshots below, you see how to create a new Signal Path and how to add ESH3-Z2 Attenuation Table:

Open Device List, click on the “Add new Device” icon and select “Signal Path”. For the measurement correction, you have to add the ESH3-Z2 Attenuation Table you have defined, before.

As soon as you are finished, save changes, rename Signal Path if needed and save it, again.

To add the new Signal Path to the existing Template, open Test Template to find the Hardware Setup in the Flow Details. Here you have to add the new Signal path. Simply click on the Signal Path icon to add the Signal path you have defined before. Make sure to apply this for each range an save your changes:

Now, you are able to create Test from Test Template to have your first measurement with the newly defined Signal Path including Pulse Limiter.
