Frankfurt is the world’s first airport to regularly employ walk-through scanners for passenger security checks. Following a roughly one-year test phase at Concourse A in Terminal 1, the German Federal Police have authorized the full-scale use of the Rohde & Schwarz QPS Walk2000 air travel security system. The QPS Walk2000 provides significantly greater comfort and convenience at security checks: instead of having to freeze in an awkward posture for scanning, travelers can simply walk through the scanner at a normal speed.

Rohde & Schwarz showcased a proof of concept for testing far field wireless power systems at the IEEE Wireless Power Technology Conference and Expo (WPTCE) in Kyoto, Japan. The radio frequency (RF) wireless power tester developed by Rohde & Schwarz utilizes the company’s test and measurement equipment along with wireless charging development kits available on the market. It also includes test automation features and a user friendly web interface. With this setup, Rohde & Schwarz supports the AirFuel Alliance RF Standard.

The Institute of Electronics, Microelectronics and Nanotechnology (IEMN, Lille, France) and Rohde & Schwarz have expanded their collaboration to research THz communications that utilize photonic technologies. In a recent demonstration, IEMN reached a milestone when researchers achieved generated a 300 GHz bidirectional link over an outdoor distance of 645 m for use in future 6G backhauling scenarios. The R&S SMA100B microwave signal generator from Rohde & Schwarz was a crucial component in the performance test setup. The R&S SMA100B provides an ultra-low phase noise signal that helps accelerate THz communications research and development to ready it for industrialization.

At the EMV 2025 tradeshow in Stuttgart, Rohde & Schwarz displays for the first time its R&S HF1444G14 High-gain EMI microwave antenna with outstanding performance. The antenna covers a frequency range from 14.9 GHz to 44 GHz. It meets the requirements of the standards CISPR 16-1-4 and CISPR 16-2-3. Precise mechanical construction and optionally available individual calibration make the antenna ideal for electromagnetic interference measurements. With the R&S HF1444G14 Rohde & Schwarz addresses the trend towards higher frequencies and accelerates and simplifies the test of large objects in smaller chambers.

KT has collaborated with Rohde & Schwarz and VIAVI Solutions to develop non-terrestrial network (NTN) technology that overcomes the disadvantages of long propagation delays in satellite communication environments. With this technology, a bandwidth of more than 10 Mbps is possible even between a geostationary (GEO) satellite and user device. This increased transmission efficiency was leveraged to successfully transmit full HD video. Rohde & Schwarz is launching the new R&S NRP170TWG(N) thermal power sensor for precise power level measurements in the D-band. It is the only RF power sensor on the market that offers full traceability to national metrology institutes (NMI) in the frequency range from 110 GHz to 170 GHz, an important prerequisite for commercializing the frequency band. The R&S NRP170TWG(N) hardware is designed to reduce measurement noise and drift, while remaining very accurate and easy to use.
