Rohde & Schwarz is exhibiting its comprehensive portfolio of security scanners to meet the highest level of airport security and passenger comfort requirements. Both the R&S QPS201 personnel security scanner, and the R&S QPS Walk2000 walk-through security scanner, will be on display at the Rohde & Schwarz booth at AAAE.

Fraport began testing the world’s first walk-through security scanner for passengers at Frankfurt Airport. The R&S QPS Walk2000 from Rohde & Schwarz is designed to speed up security checks. The first of these scanners is currently in use in Concourse A of Terminal 1. Passengers simply walk through the scanner at a normal pace without stopping. The test and evaluation phase is set to last up to six months and will provide Fraport and Rohde & Schwarz with important information to help optimize the system.

Amsterdam Schiphol Airport has installed R&S QPS201 security scanners. A shortage of personnel in the after COVID-19 period and a fully resumed air traffic turned out to be a major obstacle to its rapid handling at the security lanes. After air passengers have recently been confronted with long waiting queues for security checks, the modernized security lanes at Schiphol now meet the surging post-pandemic travel demands.

Frankfurt is the world’s first airport to regularly employ walk-through scanners for passenger security checks. Following a roughly one-year test phase at Concourse A in Terminal 1, the German Federal Police have authorized the full-scale use of the Rohde & Schwarz QPS Walk2000 air travel security system. The QPS Walk2000 provides significantly greater comfort and convenience at security checks: instead of having to freeze in an awkward posture for scanning, travelers can simply walk through the scanner at a normal speed.
