Stories by Anna Llagostera

Anna Llagostera is a Senior Applied Research Engineer with more than 10 years experience in data analysis and developing algorithms to evaluate the quality of speech, video and data services in telecommunication networks for Rohde & Schwarz SwissQual.
She graduated as a Telecommunication Engineer, received a Ph.D. in Signal Processing from EPFL (Switzerland) and was awarded a Prospective Research Fellowship from the Swiss National Science Foundation.
Anna is actively participating in ITU-T standardization activities, especially contributing in the maintenance and improvement of ITU-T Rec. P.863 (POLQA) for speech quality prediction, but also on newer models for the assessment of dimension degradations and on the development of data transport capacity measurements.

UDP Stream Test: Measuring latency and timely data delivery with uni-directional traffic

July 18, 2024 | by Anna Llagostera

Real-time applications often use unidirectional UDP packet streams sent from servers to clients or vice versa. The new UDP Stream Test can provide insight into detailed per-packet latency values and overall mobile network reliability to transport these streams seamlessly in such scenarios. This test can be widely parametrized to match real-world use cases with constant packet streams or varying load patterns.

Field measurements in mobile networks for regulators

April 15, 2024 | by Anna Llagostera

Field measurements are very valuable to regulators or national regulatory authorities (NRAs), since they provide data required to comply with regulations, investigate customer complaints, enhance service quality for consumers, promote healthy competition among operators and facilitate network expansion for the telecommunications sector.
