Test and measurement solutions for in-orbit satellites: Once a communications satellite is on its target orbit, several routines need to be performed in order to ensure proper performance of the transponders in the payload. On-orbit measurements are also a vital part of live satellite maintenance. This application brochure focuses on a few important post-launch measurement setups where Rohde & Schwarz offers unique instruments.
Starting with the early microwave applications for radar, the advantage of increased bandwidth has been a deciding factor in shifting toward microwave and millimeterwave (mmWave) for communications technologies. It began with satellite transmissions and then came down to earth with cable television and wireless local area networks such as Wi-Fi followed by new applications in the automotive and aerospace fields. The high bandwidth and high capacity demand of 5G – the next generation of mobile networks – also promote the trend toward ever higher frequencies in electronics.
The R&S®VSE-K70 option enables users to flexibly analyze digitally modulated single carriers down to the bit level. The clearly structured operating concept simplifies measurements, despite the wide range of analysis tools.
Technical specifications of the noise figure measurement options for the R&S®Fxx signal and spectrum analyzers and the R&S®ZNL vector network analyzer from Rohde & Schwarz
This document provides the technical specifications of the phase noise measurement application: R&S®FSW-K40, R&S®FSV3-K40, R&S®FPS-K40, R&S®FSV-K40.
The -K10x options cover the inband measurements of 3GPP LTE and LTE advanced. The R&S®VSE-K100/-K102/-K104 options provide convenient analysis due to automatic detection of modulation formats. Each signal subframe is analyzed and the QPSK, 16QAM or 64QAM modulation formats plus the length of the cyclic prefix are automatically detected and used in the analysis. The cell identity can also be automatically detected, which reduces the number of settings required by the user to a minimum.
Technical Specifications of the analog modulation analysis (AM/FM/φM) option for signal and spectrum analyzers and oscilloscopes from Rohde&Schwarz.
The R&S®VSE-K6 option measures all relevant parameters such as pulse duration, pulse period, pulse rise and fall times, power drop across a pulse, and intrapulse phase modulation, and produces a trend analysis over many pulses. The user selects which results should be displayed simultaneously on the screen. The R&S®VSE thus delivers a full picture of e.g. a radar system within seconds.
