The R&S®ATS1800C CATR based 5G NR mmWave test chamber is fully shielded from the outside world to provide the ideal environment for uninterrupted measurements. With this system, 5G antennas, modules and devices can be characterized and analyzed throughout the entire development lifecycle, from R&D to conformance tests for both active and passive measurements (3D antenna gain patterns, ACLR, EVM, EiRP, TRP, EiS, etc.).

Mobile, compact and fully shielded

Providing a convenient testing environment

The wheels of the R&S®ATS1800C make it easily transportable and it can fit through most doors in R&D labs or test houses. The compact, fully shielded chamber has a footprint of 1.3 m2, but still provides a large 30 cm quiet zone. This allows a wide range of 5G DUTs to be tested, such as modules, smartphones and even laptops and small cells.

State-of-the-art CATR reflector

Accurate IFF measurements with a high-quality CATR reflector

The R&S®ATS1800C has a bi-directional parabolic reflector that collimates beams from the feed antenna or DUT. The reflector was exclusively engineered by Rohde & Schwarz in Germany to achieve unrivaled performance in a small chamber. The rolled edges of the reflector are modelled to minimize scattering while the surface roughness is precisely polished, which is critical when operating at high frequencies.

Conformance testing and R&D

The highly capable and flexible chamber

Designing a module in the lab? Running conformance test cases together with the R&S®TS8980 in test houses? The applications and requirements differ but all these jobs can be done with one chamber. The 3GPP 5G-compliant R&S®ATS1800C helps optimize the overall performance of RF modules, including beam characterization measurements. This greatly reduces the risk of costly and time-consuming modifications at later stages.

3D positioner with hardware triggering

Smooth movements that facilitate fast and accurate measurements

The positioner’s angular resolution and relative accuracy are best in class. It has the capacity to support relatively heavy DUTs to also allow CTIA FR2 antenna performance tests where phantom heads and hands are to be used, while carrying out fast measurements with hardware triggering. Hardware triggering can bring down the measurement time for a full TRP measurement by a factor of 5 to 10 (depending on the number of frequencies and angular step size) compared to classical measurement methods.
