Rohde & Schwarz, the only supplier of fast diode sensors for power measurements up to 67 GHz, is increasing the maximum measurable frequency of diode power sensors to 90 GHz; higher than any other diode sensor currently available. The diode technology enables extremely fast and accurate power measurements with the highest sensitivity from a compact and light-weight portable instrument. High speed power measurements are now possible for all frequencies above 67 GHz in 5G, automotive radar and satellite communications applications including the entire E band.

The voice and audio analysis expert HEAD acoustics has decided in favor of the 5G test solution from Rohde & Schwarz for verification of voice and audio services of 5G mobile devices. The upgraded R&S CMX500 5G one-box signaling tester features a significantly reduced footprint and easier handling combined with debugging and analysis capabilities, which support the end users’ testing of voice services.

To further exploit the huge potential of 5G, the wireless industry has continued to develop the standard up to Release 16, and development continues. But technology does not stand still, and even as 5G presses forward, a new generation of cellular technology is emerging. Cutting-edge 6G research is already underway at communications equipment manufacturers and research institutions, and reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS) is a major area of interest in 6G research. Rohde & Schwarz is adding a completely new series to its oscilloscope portfolio that delivers a number of industry firsts. The new R&S MXO 4 series oscilloscopes feature the world’s fastest real-time update rate of over 4.5 million acquisitions per second. Development engineers can now see more signal detail and infrequent events than with any other oscilloscope. The 12-bit ADC in the R&S MXO 4 series has 16 times the resolution of traditional 8-bit oscilloscopes at all sample rates without any tradeoffs for more precise measurements. A standard acquisition memory of 400 Mpts on all four channels gives the instrument up to 100 times the standard memory of comparable instruments.

The China Mobile Research Institute and Rohde & Schwarz have joined forces to research and validate joint communication and sensing (JCAS). They plan to use the latest R&S AREG800A automotive radar echo generator from Rohde & Schwarz as an object simulator in a JCAS testing solution, thereby accelerating the research and development of JCAS and readying it for industrialization.

The R&S ATS1500C antenna test system from Rohde & Schwarz offers a new temperature test option and a new feed antenna. These additional features enable temperature-controlled measurements in a wide temperature range as well as parallel access to both polarizations, increasing test efficiency and flexibility. The solution will be shown at EuMW from September 27 to 29, 2022 at booth D18 of the Milano Convention Centre.

Rohde & Schwarz has cooperated with the US based CTIA organization to authorize the first multiple angles of arrival (multi-AoA) test system for CTIA OTA performance certification. The solution is based on the successful conformance test system R&S TS8980 while also leveraging the R&S CMX500 5G tester together with the R&S ATS1800M mmWave (FR2) chamber from the advanced chamber portfolio from Rohde & Schwarz.
