UWB(Ultra-Wideband, 초광대역) 기술은 비면허 주파수 대역에서 운용하는 기기 대 기기 통신용 단거리 광대역 기술입니다. UWB는 간섭에 대한 저항성이 뛰어나 통신 기기 간 정확하고 안전한 거리 측정이 가능할 뿐만 아니라 에너지를 매우 적게 소비하면서도 다른 무선 통신 시스템을 간섭하지 않는 RF 포지셔닝 기술입니다. UWB는 자산 추적, 보안 결제, 퍼스털 트랙커, 실시간 위치 서비스, 차량용 스마트키 등 다양한 애플리케이션에 사용됩니다. ABI Research는 2026년까지 연간 10억 대 이상의 UWB 기기가 출고될 것으로 예측하고 있습니다. 또한 스마트폰의 경우 2026년에는 출고되는 거의 모든 제품이 UWB 서비스를 지원할 것으로 예상됩니다.UWB 기기의 테스트 측면에서는 기타 무선 제품과 같이 일반적으로 두 가지 테스트 방법론을 채택할 수 있습니다. 즉, 테스트 측정 장비와 DUT(Device under Test) 간 유선 RF 연결을 통한 기존의 테스트 방법(Conducted 테스트 모드) 또는 OTA 무반사실에서 수행하는 OTA(Over the Air) 테스트 방법이 가능합니다. 경우에 따라 제한적 요인(비용, 공간, 복잡성, 제품의 RF 커넥터에 대한 직접 접근 등)으로 인해 Conducted 모드에서 테스트를 수행하지 못하거나 그럴 필요가 없을 수 있습니다. 이런 경우에는 OTA 테스트를 수행해야만 합니다.뿐만 아니라 OTA 테스트는 실제 조건에서의 DUT 사용을 반영합니다.이 애플리케이션 노트에서는 WMT(Wireless Automated Testing) 환경에서 송신(Tx), 수신(Rx), ToF(Time of Flight)에 대응하는 R&S® OTA 테스트 솔루션에 대해 설명합니다. 전체 문서에 제시된 측정 결과는 NXP Trimension™ NCJ29D5 UWB Automotive IC를 기반으로 합니다.
