Testing SELCAL with the R&S®CMA180

On the R&S®CMA180, SELCAL tones are generated using the dial function on the generator side. The tone pair is entered in alphabetical order, with frequency and level set to match the communications channel. This means AM on VHF or upper sideband on HF. On the analyzer side, frequency, power and modulation type are matched to the generator settings. The Find RF function can set these automatically. The dialing function then decodes received tones and displays the decoded pairs along with their frequencies, deviations and timings.
