Subject

Pulsed RF signals are used in many areas, such as radar, electronic warfare, avionics, and high energy physics. Along with CW pulses, signals with complex modulation schemes are increasingly being used, for example in LPI radar systems. Generation of these signals in the transmitter, as well as acquisition and analysis of these signals in the receiver, are both demanding tasks. ELINT systems must operate in a densely occupied spectrum with many different radar, communications and interference signals. Simulation, development and testing of these systems impose high requirements on T&M equipment.

This seminar explains the theoretical principles of pulsed signals as well as the practical application of modern T&M equipment. Participants use the R&S®Pulse Sequencer software to realistically simulate complex scenarios in the lab with vector signal generators. They use the pulse and transient analysis functions of the vector signal analyzer to measure modulated pulses and frequency agile transmitters. In practical examples, participants practice solving demanding simulation and measurement tasks in a step-by-step process. In doing so, they learn how to use test equipment, measurement functions and software confidently and efficiently.
