Recently named by Newsweek as one of the Best American Mid-Sized Workplaces in 2026, Rohde & Schwarz USA, Inc. is seeking a Platform and Test Infrastructure Engineer to architect and build the foundation that enables the Advanced Technology Lab (ATL)—a U.S.-driven R&D organization—to develop, integrate, test, and release complex hardware and software systems efficiently and repeatably. Spanning DevOps, systems integration, verification, automation, and infrastructure, this role connects development workflows directly to hardware and laboratory environments. This technical expert will partner closely with Hardware, Software, and IV&V (Integration, Verification, and Validation) teams to improve the product lifecycle through greater automation, traceability, and engineering insight. Success means reducing manual effort, accelerating the path from engineering change to verified, data-backed system results, and providing actionable information to senior leadership, customers, and business units. The ideal location for this position is based in our US Headquarters facility in Columbia, MD. Exceptional candidates will be given consideration near other office locations throughout the country (Bay Area, Dallas, and Portland, OR).

Your tasks

Integration / Verification & Validation / DevOps – Senior individual contributor providing key functions and insights in the ATL organization focusing on systems integration and continuous verification.
Cross functional Engineering – Supporting HW, SW, Project engineering, product management, and engineering leadership
Building integration, test, deployment and verification models
Hands-on development – Building automated hardware-orchestration, lab infrastructure, HIL, and deployment pipelines that bridge the gab- between code commits and physical hardware verification, observability and testability
Operate across HW/SW boundaries rather than function as a traditional IT or cloud DevOps engineer

Your qualifications

B.S. in Software Engineering or related engineering field.
10+ years of experience in DevOps, CI/CD, HW/SW interfaces, infrastructure and test automation
Deep understanding of modern engineering development environments spanning DevOps, systems integration, verification, automation, and laboratory infrastructure. Experience working across complex hardware/software systems and supporting development through integration, test, and release.
Strong proficiency with CI/CD, source control, Linux, scripting/automation, APIs, test frameworks, and configuration management. Experience with hardware-in-the-loop testing, laboratory instrumentation, telemetry, observability, or embedded/FPGA development environments is highly desirable.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively across Hardware, Software, IV&V, Systems Engineering, Product, and Project Engineering organizations. - Able to translate competing technical needs into shared infrastructure, workflows, and engineering standards.
Highly self-directed, curious, and comfortable operating in an evolving R&D environment. Able to move between architecture-level thinking and hands-on implementation while bringing structure to ambiguous technical problems.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical topics to engineering teams, leadership, customers, and business stakeholders. Able to present test results, technical risks, system status, and engineering data in a clear and actionable manner.
Demonstrated ability to identify inefficient engineering processes and develop scalable technical solutions that improve speed, quality, and repeatability. Expected to challenge legacy approaches and introduce modern development, integration, and verification practices where they create meaningful value.
Architect, build, and continuously improve the infrastructure supporting automated build, deployment, system integration, hardware-in-the-loop testing, regression, and verification. Establish reusable engineering workflows, configuration and artifact traceability, laboratory automation, and data collection capabilities while partnering with HW, SW, and IV&V teams to accelerate the path from engineering change to verified system result.

The total compensation for this position is $120K-$165K. Total compensation includes base salary, variable pay (when applicable) plus benefits. The range is determined by the position, geographic location and level. Individual pay within the range is determined by several factors including location, education or training, relevant work history, sales incentive structure and job-related skills.
