Introduction

Our oscilloscope systems combine hardware, embedded firmware, and connected software. We're modernizing our C++ software stack - upgrading dependencies, moving to a newer Visual Studio / toolchain version, and cleaning up our build system - while also preparing the product for EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) conformity. These two goals go hand in hand: up-to-date, well-maintained dependencies are a core part of cybersecurity compliance.

We're looking for a motivated working student in Munich who is comfortable in a real C++ codebase and wants hands-on experience in both practical software engineering and product security compliance. Ideal if you're studying computer science, software/embedded engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.

Tasks

  • Support the modernization of our C++ software stack (libraries, dependencies, toolchain)
  • Maintain and improve our CMake build system and dependency management with Conan
  • Resolve build issues, compiler warnings and dependency conflicts
  • Contribute to code quality, build reliability and developer tooling
  • Support Software Bill of Materials (SBOM) creation and vulnerability monitoring (CVE)
  • Assist in preparing technical documentation and analyses for Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) compliance
  • Work with Git as part of an agile development team

Qualifications

  • Enrolled student in Computer Science, Software/Embedded Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field of studies
  • Solid working knowledge of C++
  • Experience with CMake, Conan (or a similar package manager) as well as Git
  • Comfortable working on Windows / Visual Studio (MSVC)
  • Structured, detail-oriented working style with good documentation habits
  • Good written English; German is a plus
  • Bonus: interest in cybersecurity/compliance, familiarity with SBOM tooling, scripting (Python), CI/CD
