At the recent Conformance Agreement Group (CAG) meeting #78 of the Global Certification Forum (GCF), Rohde & Schwarz verified NTN NB-IoT test cases for radio frequency (RF) and radio resource management (RRM), successfully meeting all test platform approval criteria (TPAC). The R&S TS-RRM and R&S TS8980 test platforms were approved for every type of NTN NB-IoT test (RF, Demod and RRM), making Rohde & Schwarz the only company to have activated both NTN NB-IoT radio frequency (RF) and radio resource management (RRM) work items (WI) in the GCF.

Hersteller von IoT-Chipsätzen, Modems und Endgeräten sowie Testhäuser können sich jetzt auf diese bewährten Rohde & Schwarz Lösungen verlassen, die insgesamt 387 5G RedCap-Testfälle für alle Geräteproduktionsphasen von der frühen Forschung und Entwicklung bis zur Konformitätsprüfung für die Bauartgenehmigung abdecken.

Die kosteneffiziente R&S TS8980S-4A Single-Box-Lösung ist auf 3GPP-Inband-Testfälle zugeschnitten, während die R&S TS8980FTA-3A Single-Rack-Lösung sämtliche Inband- und Out-of-Band-Testfälle abdeckt. Keine andere Lösung auf dem Markt bietet den gleichen Funktionsumfang in so kompakter Bauform.

The latest radio resource management (RRM) conformance work item from the Global Certification Forum (GCF) has reached “Active” status following the approval of the Rohde & Schwarz R&S TS8980FTA-M1 5G conformance test system as the first to meet test platform approval criteria (TPAC). This includes the validation of RRM FR2 test cases in standalone mode (SA) for both one and two angles of arrival (1x AoA and 2xAoA) within 5G mmWave band combinations.

Together, Rohde & Schwarz and Sony Semiconductor Israel (Sony) have achieved the industry’s first 3GPP Rel. 17 NTN NB-IoT RF performance verification. They have also successfully validated PCT-based test cases. Both milestones contribute to the market readiness of NTN NB-IoT technology. At the MWC Barcelona 2024, Rohde & Schwarz will show a live demonstration of NTN NB-IoT testing at the company’s booth with Sony Altair’s NTN Release 17 IoT device.

Rohde & Schwarz has cooperated with the US based CTIA organization to authorize the first multiple angles of arrival (multi-AoA) test system for CTIA OTA performance certification. The solution is based on the successful conformance test system R&S TS8980 while also leveraging the R&S CMX500 5G tester together with the R&S ATS1800M mmWave (FR2) chamber from the advanced chamber portfolio from Rohde & Schwarz.
