IP | Rohde & Schwarz

IP in the studio – where next? IP based broadcast workflows

Over many decades, the broadcast industry has experienced its fair share of technological revolutions – Analog to Digital, SD to HD and now UHD. Perhaps the biggest change yet is the current migration to IP-based workflows that enable faster and more flexible working in the studio. A key to success in deploying IP in the Studio is adopting the latest standards such as SMPTE2110 and SMPTE2022-6 to ensure interoperability at the media transport layer but many other studio operations also require standardization. This session will look at the current and emerging standards work from SMPTE, AMWA and the JT-NM that aim to simplify the entire production workflow from adding new devices such as cameras to the network through to managing secure cloud-based operations.

 HDR | Rohde & Schwarz

HDR bright prospects ahead but where are we now?

The ongoing quest for the perfect picture has been around since the very early days of broadcasting. Whilst the earliest improvements focused on better – B/w to colour, NTSC and PAL - pixels, recent developments from SD to HD and from HD to UHD have given viewers more pixels to see on their brand new 4K TVs but which often lack the “WOW” factor to the average viewer.

The emphasis is therefore now firmly back on better – darker, brighter and more colourful – pixels with the deployment of High Dynamic Range (HDR) content. This session looks at how HDR works and examines how the various competing systems deliver truly stunning picture quality across a variety of display platforms.

How to reduce network complexity with modern storage solutions | Rohde & Schwarz

How to reduce network complexity with modern storage solutions

Due to the increasing distribution of technologies such as "High Dynamic Range" and "High Frame Rate" as well as the significant market shares of OTT and VOD platforms, significantly more data is being produced in the Media and Entertainment Segment.Multiple projects need to be processed simultaneously, which requires an increased demand on content management and the overall organization of a storage platform. IBM and Rohde & Schwarz present an approach to the effective and cost-efficient use of storage resources.

Converged Content Monitoring for Broadcast & Streaming Media | Rohde & Schwarz

Converged content monitoring for broadcast & streaming media

In the past, television broadcast were one-dimensional and statistic. Emerging streaming technologies as well as new IP-based video transmissions in production and playout environments demand greater flexibility and thus change the requirements for signal monitoring and quality assurance. In this session solutions are presented how to use modern software and how IT technology can provide the necessary versatility and convergence for today’s TV broadcast monitoring.

IMF – Advantages for Broadcaster

IMF – Advantages for broadcaster

In the recent months and years, the use of the IMF format has made the international marketing of content much more effective than previously possible. The largest users of this format can be found among the major Hollywood studios and in the OTT area. But what are the advantages of using IMF in the everyday life of a broadcaster between production, post-production and distribution?
