The subsystem accommodates the SIP phones used in all major Austrian civil airports and the Area Control Center (ACC) in Vienna. Rohde & Schwarz is delivering and implementing its full IP voice communication system, CERTIUM VCS, to the international airports in Skopje and Ohrid in the Republic of North Macedonia. Under a contract with North-Macedonian Air Navigation Service Provider (ANSP) M-NAV GOJSC, who is operating throughout the national territory of the republic, factory acceptance tests (FAT) were recently concluded at the Rohde & Schwarz Center of Competence for VCS in Bucharest, Romania. Currently the installation and deployment of the project are successfully undergoing on site.

London vessel traffic services (VTS) communication equipment for the Port of London Authority (PLA) Working with PLA engineers at the authority’s control centres in Gravesend, Kent and the Thames Barrier Navigation Centre (TBNC) in Woolwich, Rohde & Schwarz has installed an advanced, VoIP-based maritime communications system to handle all VTS communications. The new, customised system enhances the PLA’s ability to control movement of vessels within the Port of London, which spans the entire coastal Thames from Teddington Lock to the North Sea, and provides future-proof scalability as the VTS requirements continue to evolve.

ANSPs are on their way to adapting their operational communications systems to digital technology. The successful introduction of powerful digital services and infrastructures will fuel the digital transformation needed to cope with the challenges that come with increased airspace usage. Skyguide, die nationale Flugsicherung der Schweiz, die den Schweizer Luftraum kontrolliert und überwacht, stellt im Rahmen des Projekts skyC@T eines ihrer Sprachkommunikationssysteme (Voice Communications System, VCS) für die Zukunft auf. Dieses neue VCS wird die Schweiz abdecken und je nach Option vier bis sieben ältere VCS ersetzen.

The existing voice call allows the PSAP operator to talk to the occupants. The operator can then dispatch an ambulance if necessary and use the MSD and voice call information to optimize the response of the emergency services. The voice call and MSD can be via communicated via different generations of mobile networks.

The China Telecommunication Technology Labs (CTTL) Terminal labs at the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) successfully conducted specific absorption rate and hearing aid compatibility testing for 5G new radio mobile devices. The lab upgraded their DASY8 high-precision electromagnetic near-field scanning platform from SPEAG, the leading provider of dosimetric test systems, with the R&S CMX500 OBT 5G one-box signaling tester from Rohde & Schwarz. Rohde & Schwarz hat gemeinsam mit HEAD acoustics erfolgreich Sprachdienste über 5G NR (VoNR) verifiziert. Für die Testlösung wurde die neueste Generation des R&S CMX500 Wideband Radio Communication Testers mit der Hardware-Plattform labCORE von Head acoustics in Verbindung mit deren Mess- und Analysesoftware ACQUA kombiniert. Dieses Setup ermöglicht es, eine Sprachverbindung sowohl in einem 5G-Netz (VoNR) als auch in einem 4G-Netz (VoLTE) zu simulieren. Hersteller von 5G-fähigen Telekommunikationsgeräten sind dadurch in der Lage, die Sprachqualität ihrer Geräte frühzeitig vor der Markteinführung zu testen. Erstmals zu sehen war dieser Erfolg auf dem Mobile World Congress in Shanghai im Februar 2021.
