Do you want to see what High Technology Sales is really like? As a GIST Sales Engineering Intern at Rohde & Schwarz, you'll work with our GIST team and our technical sales team on real business development projects, not busy work. As part of the Growth Initiative Sales Team (GIST) You will work to identify engineers at strategic accounts or within a geography who need our test equipment, you will research their application requirements, and you will help to connect them with our Account Managers. You will learn about our products (spectrum analyzers, signal generators, oscilloscopes), how those products used by our customers to meet the challenges in industries like Defense & aerospace and 5G. This will also be the chance to develop the business skills that open doors in technical careers. This role is perfect if you want to combine technical skills with customer interactions to make a real impact.

Your tasks

  • Work with the GIST team and Inside Sales team to identify potential customers and develop outreach strategies to make contact and generate interest.
  • Connect with those potential customers via phone, email, text, and social media (ex: LinkedIn) to introduce them to Rohde & Schwarz and gauge their interest in our solutions.
  • Learn about R&S products - such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, and spectrum analyzers – through self-paced technical training and hands-on learning.
  • Network with the sales team through local events and customer-facing activity to learn more about Technical Sales Process and career opportunities available in Technical Sales
  • Present a summary of the internship experience to Sales Managers and other interns, providing feedback for future internship positions at R&S

Your qualifications

  • Will be a Junior or Senior in the fall of 2026
  • Pursuing a Bachelors of Science in Engineering (any discipline, Electrical or Computer Engineering preferred but not required)
  • Overall GPA 3.0+
  • Interested in Technical Sales as a potential career path
  • Strong communication skills – understands / enjoys technical topics and can explain them to anyone at any level
  • Highly motivated to work with customers and support them in our goals
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Enjoys working as part of a team
  • Must live within commuting distance of the R&S Headquarters in Columbia MD
  • US Citizenship required

This is an hourly position, paying $22-$27/hour, minimum of 30 hours per week.
