ラボで新しいテクノロジーとサービスを検証

5G NR、NB-IoT、LTE-Mなどの新しいテクノロジーや機能、サービスは、まず、特別なネットワーク条件下にあるラボ環境で検証する必要があります。テストは、隔離されたネットワーク環境で行います。完全な無線アクセスネットワークとコアネットワークにユーザー機器（UE）シミュレータまたは市販前のデバイスを接続して実施します。こうしたラボのセットアップは、実際のネットワーク環境を正確に反映しているわけではありませんが、以下のような基本的な機能と目的を検証することができます。

これらの結果は、ネットワークプラニングの判断に欠かせません。使用するテストツールは、市販と市販前のモバイルデバイスを接続して制御できる必要があります。特に、テスト対象のテクノロジーやサービスは、市販されていないものもあるため、市販前のモバイルデバイスを扱えることが重要です。

ネットワーク・エンジニアリング・ツールには、RFインタフェースをトレースする能力と、アプリケーションレイヤー・サービステストを実行して主要性能指標（KPI）を収集する能力が求められます。さらに、従来のモデムとネットワークアダプターへの接続だけでなく、スマートフォンのテザリングもサポートする必要があります。
